The Midwest Province Ordains Rev. Derek Swanson
Rev. Derek Swanson’s, CM, story begins in Alaska and ends (for the moment) in Cape Girardeau Missouri…with many stops on a long fjourney in between. Perboyre Mission House Opens Its Doors in ChicagoThe last nine months have included much excitement and activity among the Vincentians living in Chicago. Last Fall, Provincial Rev. James Swift, CM, and his Council decided to move the Vincentians’ formation program from St. Louis to Chicago and build a new community residence to house the program. It was commissioned that the new formation program be solidly based upon the principles and values already provided by the Church and the Congregation of the Mission (Vincentians), insuring that seminarians will receive the education and skills they need to be effective in their future ministries. (A formation handbook is being developed to outline the many different components of the formation program, give clear direction to the program and further the Vincentian efforts in promoting vocations.) Vocation TeamWorksSummer Images The summer months of vocation work are filled with activities of service and retreat for young people. The usual demands of school that excuse so many during the academic year are suddenly suspended and there is time to commit to other things. Here are a few events that brought young people together in the Vincentian spirit of service and prayer during the summer of 2003. More images & news online at: www.cmvocation.org/summer. The Partnership Against PovertyWhat began as "The Vincentian Corridor" almost two years ago was renamed the "Partners Against Poverty" and has been slowly developing into an organization that currently facilitates cooperation among the Catholic Churches and agencies that work in the 63104 and 63118 St. Louis zip codes. Vincentian is published bimonthly by the Midwest and Southern Provinces of the Congregation of the Mission, the Vincentian Priests and Brothers, to promote the apostolic works of its members and those of the larger Vincentian Family.
