The Family RemembersBy Ron Ramson, C.M. March 3, 1796 Peter Rene Rogue, CM, is guillotined in his hometown of Vannes; he was 38 years old. March 8, 1842 Jean-Marie Odin, CM, is consecrated bishop in the Cathedral of New Orleans. He became the first bishop of Galveston, Texas and second archbishop of New Orleans. March 11, 1934 Louise de Marillac is canonized by Pope Pius XI in Rome. March 12, 1812 Thaddeus Amat, CM, is consecrated bishop in Rome. He became the second bishop of Monterey, California. March 14, 1805 Elizabeth Ann Bayley Seton is formally received into the Church at St. Peter’s, Barclay Street, New York City by Father Matthew O’Brien. March 15, 1660 Louise de Marillac enters immortality at the age of 70. Today is her feast day. March 17, 1963 Elizabeth Ann Seton is declared Blessed by Pope John XXIII. March 25, 1634 Louise de Marillac, together with four others, take the vow of service to the poor in the Church of St. Nicholas du Chardonnet, Paris. March 25, 1805 Elizabeth Ann Seton makes her First Communion in New York City. Four years later on this day in 1809, she makes vows for one year and is given the title of “Mother” of her community. March 25, 1824 Joseph Rosati, CM, is consecrated bishop, co-adjutor of New Orleans, later first bishop of St. Louis.
