Feast of St. Louise de Marillac; St. Louise died March 15 and was buried March 17, 1660.

St. Louise and four companions bound themselves for life to service of the poor in the Church of Nicholas-du-Chardonnet, Paris.

Joseph Rosati, CM, takes vows in Naples, Italy.

Bishop Stephen Vincent Ryan, CM, of Buffalo, New York dies after 28 years of Episcopal ministry.

April 16, 1867 
Bishop John Timon, CM, first bishop of Buffalo, New York, dies. Timon had been first provincial of the Congregation of the Mission in the USA.

April 17, 1625  
The foundation date of the first establishment of the Congregation of the Mission, Bons Enfants, Paris.

April 23, 1813 
The birthday of Blessed Antoine Frederic Ozanam, principal founder of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, in Milan, Italy.

April 24, 1581 
The birthday of St. Vincent de Paul at Pouy, near Dax, in Gascony, France.

April 25, 1830  
Relics of St. Vincent de Paul transferred in solemn procession from Notre Dame, Paris to the chapel at rue de Sevres.

May 1, 1835 
St. Catherine Laboure pronounces her vows for the first time.

May 2, 1612 
St. Vincent de Paul is installed as Cure of Clichy, France.

May 4, 1823 
John Mary Odin, CM, is ordained a priest at St. Mary’s in Perryville, Missouri; he will become the first Bishop of Galveston, Texas in 1848 and the second Archbishop of New Orleans in 1861.

May 12, 1878 
Bishop Thaddeus Amat, CM, second Bishop of Monterey, California, (presently Archdiocese of Los Angeles) dies in Los Angeles.

May 12, 1888
John Joseph Lynch, CM, the first Archbishop of Toronto, Canada, dies.

May 17, 1658 
St. Vincent de Paul gives the community a copy of the Constitutions and Rules of the Congregation of the Mission.

May 20, 1990 
Pier Giorgio Frascatti, a member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, is beatified by Pope John Paul II.

May 21, 1648 
St. Vincent de Paul sends first missionaries to Madagascar.

May 24, 1830 
Leo Raymond de Neckere, CM, is consecrated bishop at St. Louis Cathedral, New Orleans.

May 25, 1802 
Jeanne Rendu (Blessed Sister Rosalie Rendu) enters the Daughters of Charity in Paris.

May 27, 1900 
St. Francis Regis Clet, CM, is beatified by Pope Leo XIII.

May 28, 1933
Catherine Laboure is beatified by Pope Pius XI.
