For the past year and a half, I have been working as the Vocations Director for the Midwest Province. It has been a great challenge, since I was also a part-time associate pastor at St. Joseph Parish in Manchester, Missouri. In June, I will be leaving the parish to pursue the work of Vocations Director fulltime, for the South, West and Midwest Provinces. This entails some changes and a lot more traveling. One of my hopes is to become more consistently present at our many Vincentian parishes across the western half of the United States. Plans are already underway to make this a reality.

Technology will soon become a part of the way we recruit for vocations. Short videos of confreres from the South, West and Midwest will appear on our website, www.vincentian.org, and on www.YouTube.com. We are currently in the planning stages with production scheduled for the end of July.

In every issue of this newsletter I try to list the names of those individuals who are discerning the call to be a Vincentian priest or brother. I would ask you to continue praying for vocations, but to remember in a special way two individuals: Toshio Sato and Karl Ries. These two men have applied to join our formation program in pursuit of the Vincentian priesthood.

I continue to receive emails from men who are interested in the community. Your help is still needed. Please encourage young men you know to consider the call. As always, I am ready to go anywhere to visit and answer questions they might have and to assist them in their discernment.
