Fr. William R. Piletic, C.M., died on June 12, 2026, at the Apostle of Charity Residence at St. Mary’s of the Barrens in Perryville, Missouri, at the age of 88 years old.
The son of Rudolph and Elvira (Newton) Piletic, both of whom preceded him in death, he was born in LaSalle, Illinois, on July 26, 1937. He entered the Vincentian novitiate in 1967 and was ordained a priest at DeAndreis Seminary in Lemont, Illinois, in 1977.
With a bachelor’s degree from Columbia College in Chicago and a master’s degree from Loyola University in New Orleans, both in communications, he earned a Master of Divinity degree from DeAndreis Seminary in Chicago in 1977.
His years in ministry were spent in a variety of roles, including teaching, pastoral work, development, mission work, and administration, including a nine-year assignment as alumni chaplain at DePaul University in Chicago. Most of his time in ministry was in California, primarily in Montebello and Los Angeles, including as Vocations Director and Assistant Provincial for the Province of the West prior to its merger with the Southern and Midwestern provinces to form the current Western Province.
He spent the last few years of his life at the Apostle of Charity Residence.

- Friday, June 19, 2026, 10:00 a.m.—Funeral Mass at Mary, Mother of God Chapel, St. Mary’s of the Barrens, Perryville, MO, followed by internment in the Community Cemetery and lunch
