In this jubilee year for the Catholic Church, the faithful are encouraged to visit one of several designated pilgrimage sites, where they may obtain a jubilee indulgence upon meeting a set of conditions. The Church of the Assumption at St. Mary’s of the Barrens in Perryville is one of nine such sites designated in the St. Louis Archdiocese.
On Nov. 15, 2025, the Congregation of the Mission Western Province offered with the Association of the Miraculous Medal in Perryville an event celebrating this jubilee year in the Catholic Church, which has the theme Pilgrims of Hope. Attendees enjoyed a tour of the church, which includes the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, a Rosary Walk on the grounds of the Barrens, and a luncheon.
