Fr. Michael Joyce, C.M., who celebrates his 50-year jubilee this year, has served in many capacities during his years in ministry, including seminary formation, canon law, pastoring, and more. He says he has enjoyed all of his assignments, but he admits the most meaningful to him is his current one, serving senior Vincentians as Superior of St. Mary’s of the Barrens in Perryville, Missouri. He began that assignment in July of 2025, after having done it previously from 2014 to 2019.
For those considering a vocation in religious life or anywhere, he suggests listening primarily to your heart, rather than to external voices, “…because that’s where the Holy Spirit speaks.”
