Born in 1863 in Pavia, Italy, Giuseppina Nicoli, D.C., was well-educated prior to her entrance into the Daughters of Charity in Turin, Italy. Her apostolate included serving as Sister Servant (Superior) of an orphanage, as a catechist for needy people and children, and service to the poor, orphans, and sick, and visiting the incarcerated.

Particularly at the orphanage, she initially encountered difficulties and obstacles, but her perseverance won her the respect of those who would impede her work and she was allowed to provide comfort and assistance to those that she served. She provided a model of direct service to the poor, especially orphans and the ill, and introduced other sisters to the ministry of visiting the incarcerated.

She died in Cagliari, Italy, in 1924, and her beatification ceremony took place on February 3, 2008 in Cagliari, Italy. Read more HERE.
